Joseph V. Scaletti was honored at a memorial service held on Saturday May 8, 2010 at 5 pm in the Domenici Center Auditorium on the UNM Health Sciences Center campus in a ceremony and reception hosted by Paul Roth, Dean of the School of Medicine and Sherry E Wilson, Director of Development.

Speakers included Robert Scaletti, Alfredo Vigil, David Bear, John W. Shomaker, Carla Scaletti, Sanjeev Arora, Karen Waconda-Lewis, Harjit S Ahluwalia, and Paul Roth. Laura Marsh and Wesley Pak performed Schubert’s “Ave Maria” accompanied by a video based on excerpts from Dante’s Paradiso. The ceremony opened with a video montage of photos accompanied by some of Dr Scaletti’s favorite music and closed with a video homage entitled The Spark. During the ceremony, Joseph Scaletti was honored with two unexpected awards: the Legend of Rotary award presented by Albuquerque Rotary president John W. Shomaker, and the School of Medicine Legacy Award, presented by Dean Paul Roth. Friends, family and colleagues continued sharing stories and remembrances at a reception following the ceremony.
